Our Journey

Whether it's cough syrup, carcinoma, or other icky 'c' words, we just call it The Elephant. Why? Elephants are cuter, have better phone emoji for replies and when they believe in something great, they can even fly. Join us as we navigate life with a pachyderm and learn to eat it one bite at a time.

We're definitely learning as we go.

Felt a bump in my neck. No biggie.

Next day it was twice the size. Saw a doc.

Doctor said, "swollen lymph node."

I asked, "What if I want to treat this aggressively and be sure?"

Went to imaging. CT results came back with words we didn't understand - words that ChatGPT translated into " Squamous cell carcinoma." That doesn't sound good...

Scan a little here. Scan a little there.

Looks like an elephant. Smells like an elephant. It's definitely an elephant. But what kind of elephant is it?

Poke me here. Poke me there.

Shove a probe up my nose to see the back of my tongue. Scrape a bit here. Tug a little there.

Ultrasound guided needle extraction. Once. Then twice when the first didn't take.

Final answer: HPV-16. Win!
