Our Journey

A massive presence walked into my life — heavy-footed, uninvited, and impossible to ignore. It came with baggage I didn't pack and adventures I hadn't planned.

This blog is about that elephant. Naming it, understanding it, challenging it - and some days - just trying to move around it.  Working to get back to where my space will be mine again.

Felt a bump in my neck.  

Next day it was twice the size.

Doc said, "probably a swollen lymph node."

"What if it's not?" I asked


Head CT

Torso CT

Ultrasound guided needle extraction.

Once.  Then twice.  


Looks like an elephant. Smells like an elephant.  Definitely an elephant.  But what kind?


Final answer: HPV-16.  Win!
